We're still coming here after 23 years and loving this restaurant as much as ever. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly and efficient. The 2 pancakes, 2 eggs and 2 bacon or sausage plate for $5.50 is a great deal too.

Tourist trap! I'm a local and Only eat pancakes a few times a year. After living here for 3 years and alwaysseeing cars in the parking lot, I was looking forward to trying this place. Had a special which was eggs pancakes and bacon. Eggs and bacon were ok but pancakes were a big disappointment. I purposely ordered them plain with no fruit or any other "adornment" as I truly expect a place named pancake house would have fluffy, delicious ones. I figured they wouldn't even need anything on them - well shame on me for expecting too much. Flat and dry would best describe them and I couldn't even eat them. I was happy I also had sunny side up eggs too then realized there was no toast to dippy my yolks. I ordered a piece of toast while my eggs got cold and she brought one piece. The final straw that broke this camels back was the charge for ONE piece of toast. Really? You can't spare a piece of bread! Goodbye pancake house!!

I grew up in Murrells Inlet and remember the place when it first moved to its current location 30+ years ago. As a youngster, I thought there was nothing better. Sadly, as an adult, I know better. The few visits have been uniformly disappointing. The food was at best okay. The service was, at best, poor. It didn't take long to be seated but from there everything went down hill. The waitress simply couldn't get her act together. The kitchen couldn't get its act together. We sat and sat and sat, and then we were disappointed in the food. The waffle looked like it was made in my kitchen Presto! machine. The omelet looked as flat as my son's pancakes. The namesake "fruit" pancakes looked like someone had scraped a couple pieces of fruit out of the bottom of a can that was well past the time it should have been tossed out. The only thing the GCPH has going for it is that there is always a fresh batch of tourist who are waiting in line to experience the disappointment for their first time.

Definitely not my first choice. The carpet and atmosphere were dirty. The food was subpar and the hollandaise sauce was sour. I left feeling nauseated.

We've been here a few times over the years, and they've been pretty reliable for breakfast . I like the sausage gravy and biscuits best, fresh hot coffe carafes left on your table, and the omelets are pretty solid choices too. The corned beef hash was just ok though, but I've had a lot of different hash and may be a little biased. The home fries this last time, although good on color and texture as usual, had a slightly off taste. So much so, everyone in my group had arrived at the same conclusion and left them mostly uneaten prior to discussing if we enjoyed our food! Strange but true.. Enjoy!

Decided to try something new today and glad I did. The Garden City Pancake House is something I've passed by several times but never tried. The parking lot is large and offers plenty of parking. Once you go inside, you'll notice the only negative in my opinion, the look of the restaurant. The inside looks like it's stuck in the 70s/80 with floral carpets and tacky white chandeliers. The staff was quick to greet us and seat us. The interior was clean and quiet. I ordered the patty melt and it did not disappoint. The rye bread had good flavor. The meat was cooked perfect and toppings added to the mix. The fries were kinda plain Jane, nothing special. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The food here is very responsibly priced, with the two of us getting out of here for under $20 with tip. I would recommend giving it a try if you're hangry(haha) for breakfast and looking to try something new.

This place is seemly busy often.. Must be from tourist that don't know any better because of its ideal location.. Went to this establishment after church with a party of 9 every single item came out disgusting half of the orders were wrong... After expressing our frustration about the food after waiting almost an hour to receive it.. The beyond rude waitstaff and management proceeded to tell us we were just looking for a free meal... Which blew me away considering we frequently eat out and I had never been so insulted. If the food were edible I wouldn't have had a complaint but that was not the case here. The dining room is so dated it looks as tho it hasn't been updated since 1985 skip his place THE GOLDEN EGG will knock your socks off it a mile north on 17 bus from this gross place

I was here today feb 14 2015 and it was terrible we waited forever to get our food and when it finally came it was cold and not completely cooked the excuse was they didn't have enough help in the kitchen and only two people serving we were a group of 14 and we won't be coming here again I spoke with the manager and he didn't even offer anything poor decision on his part...............

Not sure what happened on those other reviews, but we found it just the opposite. I have been known to over critique some foods & grits are one of them. I found the grits at GCPH to be neutral taste (that means add your own salt, pepper, other spices to taste), good temperature, consistently smooth through out the entire bowl. My wife's omelet was cooked perfectly and tasty. I know. I got the last two bites. And the wait time was null. We were in and out in about 45 minutes and we're slow eaters.

We went here because our favorite place up the road was full and had a 15 minute wait. We should have stayed there. As far as Garden City Pancake house, if I were able to leave less than a one star rating I surely would. There are so many choices for food in this town that you would think restaurants would always be on their "A Game". well this place doesn't have an "A" game. Or a "B" game either, in fact they don't have any game at all. Thus place is a loser in all senses of the word. The service was slow and without emotion or alacrity. The food was served absolutely stone cold and just dropped on the table without anyone ever checking back. The coffee which could have been the saving grace was the final nail in the coffin. It was cold, weak and served in an old coppery colored plastic carafe that was not only filthy outside but inside as well. We didn't notice that until too late unfortunately, but we sure noticed the sour coffee creamer when we poured it in our cold cups of joe and made curds. Without even a nod they cleared the coffee cups and left a check. I guess they assumed we were through. The old Greek woman at the register knew not to ask how everything was or I gladly would have enlightened her. I think she's probably tired of hearing the truth and knows better than to ask. Our whole family of six scores this big loser as a (-1). Avoid this place at all costs. Be safe and go to Eggs Up Grill.

Me and my family waited for over an hour to get our food. During this time we didn't get any refills because the waiter never came back to our table. When we finally got our food the waiter apologized. She blamed the kitchen for the long wait but the food was cold so it seemed that it had been ready for quite some time. My aunt ordered a steak and cheese omelet but instead of steak she received the fat that was cut from it. The waiter graciously informed us the we would not have to pay for the omelet but upon leaving the manager tried to over charge us by almost twenty dollars. After experiencing the wrath of several angry southern women he decided not to charge us for food we didn't eat and a grilled cheese we didn't order. All in all the place has potential but the service was absolutely terrible.

We were seated right away, but that was the only good thing about this place. We waited for our server to take our drink order, but after about 10 minutes, a lady came over and told us our server was busy with a big party, and she would take our drink order. So then our real server comes over and wants to get our drinks, so we had to explain what happened. So we order (2 spinach benedicts and a side of homefries), and we wait for our food. And wait. And wait. I know we waited at least half an hour. When we finally got our food, she just delivered it and didn't ask if we needed anything else. She just walked away. My son didn't like his homefries, so I wanted to order something else for him. I kept trying to catch our server's eye but never could. We had totally finished our food when she came back, and I ordered him some fruit. It was fruit cocktail, straight out of a can. She grabbed my husband's empty diet coke to refill and brought back sweet tea. We asked for our check, and that took another 10 minutes. We went up front to pay, and our server has to ring us up, too. Not sure why the hostess, who is just standing behind a podium watching us, couldn't handle the register. To sum things up- crap food, crap service, and the interior is circa 1982.
